‘Layers of Us’ Bridge artwork
Project Type: Public Artwork
Overview
Urban Steel contributed to the ‘Layers of Us’ bridge artwork project located along the Honeysuckle promenade. The artwork, created by Aboriginal artist Jasmine Craciun, forms part of a public space designed to reflect cultural storytelling and enhance the surrounding environment.
This project required the integration of structural steel elements with an artistic design, ensuring the final installation aligned with both visual intent and structural requirements. Positioned within a high-traffic public area, the artwork needed to be fabricated with durability and precision in mind.
Urban Steel’s involvement supported the delivery of a permanent installation that contributes to the cultural identity of the space.
Urban Steel’s Role
Urban Steel fabricated and installed the structural steel components required to support the artwork. This work required precision fabrication to ensure all elements aligned with the design intent while maintaining structural integrity.
The team collaborated with project partners including Newcastle City Council and Daracon to ensure the installation met all project requirements.
Project Outcome
The completed artwork is now a permanent feature within the Honeysuckle area, contributing to the cultural and visual identity of the space.
